“I need a pistol that shoots hope. I would light the hood up.”

"Hyperspace Cowboys," is a proof of concept short film. This is the origin story of a non-violent, psychedelic superhero who heals his foes' woes rather than cause more harm.
Inspired by the quote from the late poet-activist Marshawn McCarrel, "I need a pistol that shoots hope. I would light the hood up," "Hyperspace Cowboys" deals with the legacy of trauma caused by systemic racism in society and opens the door to a potential healing path while subverting the superhero genre.
In a world that is increasingly fraught, we intend to tell a story that doesn't end with the cliche "The Good Guys" do violence to "The Bad Guys" as a viable solution for what ails the world. We intend to foster hope in a world where it is scarce.
We shot our film in June 2025, and now we are raising funds to finish it and submit to festivals.
